At OADP, our mission of helping students with a passion for numbers and strong analytical skills successfully enter the accounting field. Since no promising accountants should be turned away from the career simply due to their financial situation, we've created this $1,500 Scholarship to help cover tuition prices. Twice each year, we'll accept applications from undergraduate students who will be pursuing a bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited business school. It's our hope that these scholarships will greatly lower the financial burden of higher education for aspiring accounting professionals.
In today's competitive global business world, it's becoming even more crucial for organizations to keep track of their financial spending habits to stay ahead and make a profit. That's precisely where accounting graduates come in. Accountants are trained with specialized expertise in taxation, bookkeeping, auditing, financial analysis, and accounting information systems to help executives make well-informed business decisions. Students who earn a degree in accounting are prepared for entering a wide array of in-demand specialty areas with credentials like CPA, CFM, CIA,CFA, CBAP, CFE, and more.
Due to the continued globalization of business and an increased focus on strict accounting regulations, the business world has placed a high demand on qualified accounting graduates to carefully examine financial documentation. Having an education in accounting can make individuals very marketable for breaking into a rewarding business position that ensures all financial records are accurately complying with these imposed laws. In fact, the employment of accountants is expected to grow faster than average at 13 percent, thus creating 166,700 new jobs for accounting graduates before 2022!
Online Accounting Degree Programs Scholarship Applicants Must:
• Be an incoming college freshman, sophomore, junior or senior with a declared major in accounting at an accredited four-year institution in the United States.
• Be a U.S. citizen as verified by a U.S. passport, birth certificate, or another acceptable method depicted here.
• Be earning a bachelor's degree in accounting.
• Possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher on transcripts sent directly from the applicants' school.
• Submit a 500- 1,000-word essay describing their leadership qualities, academic achievements, and future career plans in accounting.
• Provide cover letter, resume and two letters of recommendation.
• Print and complete this scholarship application form.
Applications for the Online Accounting Degree Programs Scholarship must be submitted before April 30th and November 30th each year. Scholarship winners will be notified by email and U.S. mail about their selection within one month from these deadlines.
Criteria for Selecting Scholarship Recipients:
Once the deadline has passed, the OADP scholarship committee will carefully review all applications and supplemental materials. Selections will be based on academic achievement, participation in school and/or community activities, letters of recommendation, and how well the personal essay highlights the student's career aspirations as an accounting major. Depending on the number of finalists chosen, an interview via video conferencing may be required to make a final decision.
Scholarship Notification Process:
By May 30th or December 30th, the OADP scholarship committee will choose the award recipient and notify them via email. Winners will also receive a letter through U.S. mail with a check made payable directly to their college or university. Recipients will be responsible for ensuring the scholarship funding is properly forwarded to their university's financial aid office to lower their tuition expenses. Those who are not selected as scholarship recipients will not be notified by our committee, but will be invited to reapply in the future.
