School of Accountancy

Brigham Young University is the top choice among students who are active members of The Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints. Also known as the LDS Church, members refer to themselves as Mormons. BYU named itself after the founder of that religion to pay homage to the hard work he did. Founded in 1875, BYU has an enrollment of nearly 30,000 students. While the majority of those students are members of the LDS faith, other students can enroll. All students must follow the stringent code of conduct, which prohibits them from using drugs, drinking alcohol and engaging in other activities.

BYU offers several tracks that students can follow as well, including a tax track, professional stem and an accounting information systems track.

Southern Utah University

School of Business

Cedar City is a small town in Utah that is now home to Southern Utah University. Founded as the Branch Normal School in 1897, the school offered basic classes in subjects like geography, history and teaching before adding agricultural classes to its curriculum. The popularity of those courses led to the school looking for new programs that students would enjoy just as much. Locals living in the area raised money and provided support to students during its early years. SUU now gives back to that community through the use of service learning projects that students take part in every year.

Master of Accountancy

The Master of Accountancy program offered by Southern Utah University is an accredited program that is open to students with a degree in business, accounting or a similar subject. SUU is one of the only colleges in the state that offers a dual degree program for enrolled students too. When you enroll in this program, you can use some of the classes you take towards completing an MBA. Once you finish your accounting courses, you’ll only need to take five more classes to receive an MBA. U.S. News & World Report called SUU one of the top graduate schools in the United States and recognized its accounting program too. The Professional Accountancy Club on campus provides students with the opportunity to work with and learn from professional accountants working in the city. Students can also take part in the Volunteer Tax Income Assistance program that helps more than 1,000 people file their taxes every year.

Its urban campus has more than 1,500 square feet of green spaces and buildings, and the main campus has a total enrollment of nearly 32,000 students. Though partially founded by Brigham Young, the university has no religious affiliation. It appeared within the top 100 of American schools on lists put out by ARWU and Washington Monthly, but the campus also appeared on similar lists released by Forbes and U.S. News and World Report. ARWU ranked the campus on a global scale as well.

Master of Accounting

When enrolling in the University of Utah Master of Accounting program, you’ll find the UU gives you the option to customize your degree with a concentration in either accounting information systems, auditing or taxation. Those hoping to take the CPA examination will want to take the taxation route, which teaches them how to prepare taxes for both individuals and businesses as well as nonprofit organizations. Though the university lets you start classes in either the spring or fall, you will need to decide whether you want to go full-time or part-time. Full-time students take 32 credits of work over the course of just two semesters, while part-time students take 30 credit hours of courses over four semesters. You must take 18 credits of core classes like team building, business valuations and corporate taxation. The remaining 14 credits of work will come from classes within the concentration that you choose.

Now known as WSU, it no longer has an affiliation with the LDS Church and now functions as a full university that offers certificate, undergraduate and graduate programs.
